Role Summary – Senior Litigation Associate/ Counsel
A National Insurance Carrier is looking to add a Senior Litigation Attorney to their growing Florida legal team. This role will be housed under the Fort Lauderdale location and has the opportunity to be hybrid or remote based on the candidate’s location.

An individual in this role will handle a variety of litigated matters and will collaborate and offer support/insight on litigation and trial strategies, throughout the State of Florida. In this position the individual will investigate and handle civil liability cases for the totality of cases’ life cycle – this will include dismissals, settlements, and or trial and appeals if necessary.

This individual will be working closely with the company’s adjusters and the insureds to resolve claims as expeditiously and efficiently as possible.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Handles a caseload involving moderate to high exposures pending throughout the State of Florida.
• Independently act as First Chair during trial. Conducting trials, pre-trials, mediations, arbitrations, and any other legal activities required to resolve cases. activity required to resolve cases.
• Handle exposures with a primary focus on general liability, premises liability, and auto liability claims.
• Prepare pleadings and documents necessary to advance matters through the litigation process and negotiate settlements as directed.
• Provides legal advice to insured clients, claims professionals, or other company representatives as needed.
• Experience assisting with employment and professional/management liability defense casework is also a PLUS.

Position Requirements:

• Must be actively licensed to practice law in the State of Florida. Federal Bar membership is desirable a plus
• Must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in insurance defense, including first-chair jury trial experience.
• Must be able to analyze issues, pro-actively develop effective strategies on pending cases, communicate regularly with claims professionals, document communication and resolve cases as efficiently and effectively as possible.
• Must have extensive experience with preparing pleadings, completing discovery, handling appearances, motion practice, evaluating claims, negotiating settlement, and preparing for/conducting trials.
• It is expected that the individual is both comfortable and proficient working in a paperless environment and would be able to fully utilize the company’s Electronic Case Management System, and would have a proficient working knowledge of MS Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, and Skype for Business.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $120,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
